In the exact center of the 'Desert Of The Lost Souls', there is an oasis. It is called a mirage by some, but by those who manage to find it, it is ... heaven. It's so very different from the desert surrounding it. There are forests, rivers, even plains in this oasis. Animals of all kinds, many of which aren't even seen living in the rest of Avalon, make their lives here. Unicorns, dragons, and it was once claimed that there were mermaids swimming in one of the many lakes in the oasis. However the most sought-after creature that was said to live here, has yet to be seen. A shadow of the being was seen once, and descriptions are sketchy. There are warnings placed about the oasis, of caution to anyone who might think to do harm to this place. If anyone so much as tries to catch one of the rare fauna that thrives here, they will surely be attacked by the guardian of this place. What is the guardian though? No one knows. A most rare creature, the only evidence she (yes, she) has left behind were a set of paw prints. The front like a big cat's and the back like a canine's. It is certain that these prints come from the same creature, such is the gait. But what the guardian is exactly, has yet to be determined.
If one finds themselves here, and stays long enough. At night, in the middle of a lake, and large, stone structure appears on an island in the exact center of the lake. Gray stone, covered in moss. For some reason it looks somewhat out of place here. If one wants to visit this shrine the must first approach the waters' edge, and if they really want to visit the shrine the waters will lower, and a sort of rock bridge will appear in the visitor's path. All they have to do is walk across the bridge, and to the shrine. Once at the shrine, a set of copper doors will open; allowing entry.
As one treads further, they'll notice that the shrine looks much like the Antioch Ruins. Yet, it looks more peaceful here, like this is just the way this place is. Not like the ruins, which seem to have been hit with some unfortunate fate. The stone walls here have an odd sort of warmth to them, as if the sun has been shining on them all day. They're not hot though; not uncomfortable. At any rate, that's not all there. Several statues depicting different animals lay scattered about the ruined landscape. Most importantly and most noticeable are four large statues of animals relating to the chimera herself.
To the south is a large ebony tigress: it looks as if it is ready to pounce, with one forepaw raised bearing claws of pearl. To the north is a statue of a wolf: made of a clear, blue crystal with a diamond studded chain is around its neck. To the east, is a large, jade statue of a dragon: its wings outspread as if just taking flight; its long, sharp fangs are made of ruby. And finally, to the west, is a small statue of a raven seated upon a black marble perch: made of gold with glittering eyes of emeralds. And in the center of all this, is the Shrine itself. The shrine is a simple structure; not even as extravagant as the statues surrounding it. It is made of marble and set on a patch of simply ... earth.
