Isle of Mist

Regular Forum Clearwater
A busy town on the north-eastern coast of the island. Ferries originating from here transport those who wish to visit Mist to and from the City of Four Guardians on the opposite shore. The majority of the inhabitants of Clearwater do not speak Common (Though they do understand it), and mostly communicate using sign language alone. In spite of this, they are friendly and accommodating people, providing many of their services - inns, healing and food - for free to travellers. One of the better known landmarks here is the Clear Water Well - water drawn from this point has the curiously magical ability to lift curses and cure many diseases commonly held to be permanent - including lycanthropy and vampirism.

Regular Forum Rift of Beralorn
At the centre of Mist, this great scar in the earth serves as a reminder of what comes of the lust for power. Beralorn was an ancient warrior, who was chosen to ascend as a God - but although he passed the physical tests with great ease, he fell at the final hurdle and failed in his quest. In his rage, Beralorn lifted his mighty blade and cleft the island in twain, sinking the entire northern half into the frigid ocean. The ancient Elders managed to contain the furious demigod, with a high toll paid in blood, before he could continue any further - the method they used to capture him (For he was too powerful a foe to fell outright) is what resulted in this monolithic chasm. Now the rift is filled with water, warm from the springs spouting from below the earth. The banks of this lake, many miles in length, are rich and fertile - home to many creatures and flora, who thrive alongside the healing waters of this once barren place.

Directly north of the Rift of Beralorn and not far from the island's coast is a forest that spans many miles in all directions. From a distance it looks like any other forest. However, up close, one will soon realise that it is not, for the trees in this particular forest are huge - many times taller than those of other forests around the world. Where the roots are exposed they are as tall as houses and just as thick.

Looking up, it is easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer height at which the canopy sits, but once composure has been regained, a more careful look will reveal what lies in the tree tops. High above the ground, just over two-thirds of the way up the trunks of the trees, sits an entire city. Wooden huts and walkways run all throughout the forest, providing homes to many hundreds of families. Though the reasons for the city being built so high up are not clear, many suspect it was to protect the inhabitants from any invaders, for it is hard to reach. In fact, other than climbing the trees, which is no safe task, the only way up is in one of the many baskets that lie within the forest. These baskets use a pulley system to reach the city above, though it is often unclear how this works because there is no visible weight to explain how they ascend.

The city itself is bustling with activity and one of the main attractions is the huge marketplace where all the things anyone could imagine are up for sale.

Regular Forum Elindel
Elindel was once a great Elven city in the northernmost reaches of the island of Mist. Destroyed by Beralorn, the survivors of the incident returned to the shore and constructed for themselves a colossal wooden ship, over many years, which would serve as their new home. They named it after their beloved lost land. For a time after completion, Elindel drifted the seas of Avalon, but misfortune ended her roaming on the jagged rocks on the southern coast of Mist.

The city-ship still remains in place today in largely the same shape as it was in those days so long ago, though some of the lower areas are flooded. Beneath the decks are mostly elven homes - hundreds of them - as well as some storerooms, and shops which have grown up to cater for the curious travellers who come to visit the fabled Floating City. The top deck, over a mile in length and dotted with towering masts and the occasional house or similar building, is where the people of Elindel spend much of their time.

Located in the south-western region of the Isle of Mist, covering a large amount of the land in that area, lies a great range of mountains. Long ago, these mountains were inhabited by the members of a tribe of fierce warriors, known as the Vorann. These warriors - men and women alike - treated all who entered the mountains as invaders and dealt with them accordingly. Very few survived to tell the tale. For many, many years, few dared enter these mountains. Those who did were branded foolish or insane. But there was one man who entered without fear of the warriors of the tribe. Beralorn, angry that he was now unable to ascend, made his way into the mountains with his sword drawn. As always, the Vorann attacked the foreigner who had entered their land with seemingly hostile intentions. One by one, Beralorn cut them down with his blade, laughing cruelly as even the mightiest of the Vorann fell at his feet, blood pouring from their wounds. After the great slaughter, only a handful of the tribe's men and women were left alive and they quickly fled deeper into the mountains to escape a similar fate. These days, the mountains are much safer as the few descendants of the Vorann are rarely seen, although there are still natural dangers to overcome. It is rumoured that there is a trail that leads through the mountains to a mysterious place, but these rumours are often dismissed as merely an old tale told to children before they are put to bed...

Regular Forum Sacred Ground Meeting Place
One of the sacred places is a place only few know. Legend surrounds it and it is hard to find unless you are meant to be there. It is a circle of stones a top the highest hill. There are four doors ways made out of stone that are in the directions of North, South, East and West. In the center of the circle is a large stone that is naturally flat on top. It sparkles red in the sunlight though it is usually cloudy. There are deeper secrets hidden there if you know how to get to them. It is rumored that under the circle of stones lies the grave of the god and goddess that have fallen and died. Some say it is a meeting place of devils and were sacrifices take place. Others have no clue and just stay away. It is a place of power and new life, where a rite of passage occurs for a select few.
